Concepts for the Logo Design

Concepts for the Logo Design

You can see david’s concept development in the above image which shows how in the first row of illustrations he moves from an ear towards a simple abstract shape.

In the second row he moves from an ear trumpet into forms which represent an increase in sound as the forms increase in size.

David’s final design for the company logo shown at the top of this page features the simplistic abstract ear shape in an attractive turquoise/blue positioned to the left side the Gotham typeface. He has also added the tag line to the logo with the tag line letters all in capitals. This works well as it adds weight to the right side of the design helping to balance the overall appearance of the logo.

Logo Design by David Airey for WDE

The Above Logo Design by David Airey was created for WDE Engineering. The company based in Northern Ireland specialises in the rental and repair of fork lift trucks.

The Company requested a logo that was simplistic and they also wanted to see a design which communicated something meaningful about the business and the service they offered but without being too predictably obvious.

Sketches for WDE Logo

You can see David’s initial ideas for the WDE company logo in his sketches shown above which illustrate possible solutions for the engineering company’s new identity.

David’s final design shown at the top of this page depicts a bold logo with the abstract style forks made from solid shapes to represent the symbol part of the design. The heavy Rockwell Extra Bold typeface also works well in communicating the engineering theme.

Logo Design by David Airey

The Above Logo Design by David Airey was created for the Tokyo based company Berthier Associates. The company specialises in the planning, design, installation and maintenance of modern workspaces.

After discussions with the client David had reached the conclusion that a text only design or logotype as it is known to designers would be the best solution for the company’s new identity. David developed a number of ideas for the logotype but it was his concept below that was chosen for the company’s new identity.

The above image shows how David took the initial Gotham typeface and modified the type into an original identity for the Company. Note especially how David rounded the ‘b’ and the letter ‘r’ on both occasions to make an elegant, smooth and contemporary logotype.

Logo Design for Forum

Logo Design for Forum

Logo Design for Forum

The above Logo Design by Firebubble was created for a Forum that promotes good relations between people with different ethnic backgrounds that now live together within the same community.

The logo design for the Forum features an abstract representation of people coming together with the different colours representing the different ethnic or cultural backgrounds of the people. The client wanted the design to have a corporate business like feel but at the same time being friendly and inviting. The corporate business aspect of the logo was achieved using simplistic and bold elements whilst the friendly and inviting aspect of the design was achieved using the abstract people displayed in gentle complimentary colours.

This was one of the first logos created by the firebubble studio and it was nice to have had the privilege to work on a project with such an interesting, important and righteous theme.

Logo Design for Record Label

Logo Design for Record Label by Firebubble

Logo Design for Record Label by Firebubble

The above Logo Design by Firebubble was created for Trademark Records a UK Record Label. The client wanted a design that was modern and symbolic. It was important for the design to be easily recognised and so a number of concepts were created. This was probably one of the safer concepts as some of the other concepts were recognisable due to their uniqueness. This concept however focused on colour for its identity. The pink against the blue with the bold white symbol stamped onto the design creates a high contrast to deliver a memorable design.

The client originally wanted to see the simple trademark symbol as their logo but it was advised that trademarking the actual trademark symbol on its own would be close to impossible! So a set of alternative ideas were presented so as to offer a more unique and individual representation of the initials ‘TM’.

Logo Design for financial business Pareto FD

Logo Design for financial business Pareto FD

The above Logo Design by Firebubble was created for the financial direction business Pareto FD. The UK company offers financial direction, advice and business strategies.

The concept for the logo design was based around the name which is taken from the famous numerical Pareto Law. The Pareto law works on a basis that for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. This basis to the Pareto law can be seen in the logo design with the relevant proportions being used.

A number of concepts based around this theme were created for the client but in the end it was this contemporary cyan on white concept that won the deciding vote.

Logo Design for Art Gallery

Logo Design for Art Gallery

Logo Design for Art Gallery

The above Logo Design by Firebubble was created for the Inspire Gallery an exhibition featuring pieces of modernist art inspired by famous artists.

The logo design is based on a painting by Wassily Kandinsky titled yellow, red, blue.

If you look at the left side of the painting you will see where the logo was inspired from. Although many would miss the link between the logo and the painting keen modernist painting enthusiasts would quite easily see the link making the logo appealing to its intended audience.

The logo was created on paper which is not usually the way a logo would be created as this makes resizing a little difficult when compared to a vector based logo design created using Adobe Illustrator or other vector based program which can be resized with ease. This logo however was only to be used on one occasion and so only needed to be created at its intended size, unlike business logos which have to be very versatile in terms of format, size and reproduction.

Firebubble Logo Design

Firebubble Logo Design

The above Logo Design by Firebubble created for the purpose of marketing their UK Graphic Design Studio is currently the third and latest design for the business. It is often said that a designer is never completely satisfied with there work and in no place is this more true than when it comes to a designer developing their own identity.

The Firebubble symbol has changed little since its initial creation back in 2007 but the type and background colour has seen a number of changes.

The original design was featured on a white background which looked nice and clean but the type was somewhat uninspiring.

Another varied appearance of the logo can be seen on their UK website at firebubble.co.uk where the design is featured against a black background. This was the second logo design for the business. You can see how the third edition of the logo shown at the very top of the page has evolved from the first example in white from 2007 and the black UK website depiction especially when you focus on the changes in typography.

Logo Design for Grounded Awareness

Logo Design For Grounded Awareness

Logo Design For Grounded Awareness

The above Logo Design by Firebubble was created for a practical enlightenment intensive project titled Grounded Awareness. The client wanted a ‘down to earth’ logo to reflect the ‘down to earth’ techniques that they used. The enlightenment intensive classes were designed to give attending members clarity of mind to help them realise that within themselves they carried an inner contentment which could be realised only when the mind was without conflicting thoughts and desires.

The logo itself depicts two characters. One character stands firmly upon the type whilst helping the other character ascend the type. The logo does not depict one character being greater than the other it simply shows how one person can help another.

This concept communicates the nature of the Grounded Awareness project which is currently being developed. The website www.groundedawareness.com is not yet online but should be due for launch in 2009.

Logo Design by Firebubble

Logo Design by Firebubble

The above Logo Design by Firebubble shows how a business name can be communicated in a logo symbol or graphic. By taking the two words of the name vox (voice) and sciences the logo communicates the name with a visual representation.

The design was first created with a hand drawing on paper which was then recreated using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. The logo graphic was simplified as much as possible as it is important not to have too much detail in a logo if you wish to see it reproduced at small sizes.

The design was entered in to a competition that the client later pulled out of so unfortunately the design did not get developed to its final stage but the concept for the logo is one we still like very much. If anybody would like to give the logo a home we would be happy to develop the logo to a completed stage :)
