Concepts for the Logo Design

Concepts for the Logo Design

You can see david’s concept development in the above image which shows how in the first row of illustrations he moves from an ear towards a simple abstract shape.

In the second row he moves from an ear trumpet into forms which represent an increase in sound as the forms increase in size.

David’s final design for the company logo shown at the top of this page features the simplistic abstract ear shape in an attractive turquoise/blue positioned to the left side the Gotham typeface. He has also added the tag line to the logo with the tag line letters all in capitals. This works well as it adds weight to the right side of the design helping to balance the overall appearance of the logo.

Logo Design by David Airey for WDE

The Above Logo Design by David Airey was created for WDE Engineering. The company based in Northern Ireland specialises in the rental and repair of fork lift trucks.

The Company requested a logo that was simplistic and they also wanted to see a design which communicated something meaningful about the business and the service they offered but without being too predictably obvious.

You can see David’s initial ideas for the WDE company logo in his sketches shown above which illustrate possible solutions for the engineering company’s new identity.

David’s final design shown at the top of this page depicts a bold logo with the abstract style forks made from solid shapes to represent the symbol part of the design. The heavy Rockwell Extra Bold typeface also works well in communicating the engineering theme.

Logo Design by David Airey

The Above Logo Design by David Airey was created for the Tokyo based company Berthier Associates. The company specialises in the planning, design, installation and maintenance of modern workspaces.

After discussions with the client David had reached the conclusion that a text only design or logotype as it is known to designers would be the best solution for the company’s new identity. David developed a number of ideas for the logotype but it was his concept below that was chosen for the company’s new identity.

The above image shows how David took the initial Gotham typeface and modified the type into an original identity for the Company. Note especially how David rounded the ‘b’ and the letter ‘r’ on both occasions to make an elegant, smooth and contemporary logotype.
